[He notes that reaction, but is wise enough in the moment not to say anything.

Step closer, dipping down to gently lift the little familiar up and into his arms. The mushroom son whines a little, but then goes back to sleep almost immediately — precisely like a small child would.]

They're too tired for any mischief right now. No promises for how they're feeling after their naps, though.

[One more smile, then he's wandering away to reunite the little guy with his siblings. Be right back!]

[ and so she's left alone with only her tea and the blanket on her lap. she also doesn't speak aloud the thoughts she has seeing how naturally he takes to lifting and holding the mushroom in his arms. how gentle he is. she knows the other side of the coin.

but... still...

she likes to see it.

[He’s always been good with kids. :)

He comes back just a couple of minutes later, mushroom-less. Henry settles down next to her, picking up the corner of her blanket and tugging it close. Time to share, girl.]

The others are fast asleep, too, just like I figured.

Where?

[ as she relinquishes the blanket. not only that, but adjusts herself to curl up against him. her tail loops the small of his back. ]

[He draws in close and loops and arm around her middle, careful not to jostle her if she's still nursing her tea.]

In the bedroom. Under the fort they made out of the sheets and some of your books.

[velluminous]

[ he likes to hold. she's noticed that. like he wants to possess, or else just be close... so that she cannot help but recognize him there.

after a beat, she slides sideways to lay across her lap, tea balanced on her belly.

and then he says that. ]

With what?

[vecna]

[Possess, be near, be recognized. They're all so related to each other that they might as well be one complete desire that drives much of what he does.

That aside, he tries not to laugh at her reaction.]

Your books.

[He assumes that's her concern, rather than the sheets.]

Don't worry. Nothing's ruined. They're just stacked.

[velluminous]

[ trying to!! sit up!! ]

When are they making this? Since we come back?

[vecna]

[No!! He hugs her tighter and leans back, keeping her in place.]

Sprezzatura. Your things are fine. I promise.

[velluminous]

[ gack ]

I am only wanting to know when they did that!

Why does it matter when they did it?

[Ma’am what]

…Okay. Well, I’m pretty sure they’ve made it since we came back from playing in the snow.

How are they so quick?

...they are clever like their master.

It doesn’t take long to build a “fort” with a couple stacks of books and a sheet thrown over it.

But I’ll take the compliment, anyway.

You are too clever, sometimes.

Wouldn’t you rather me be clever than stupid?

[Subtly leans his head against her.]

[velluminous]

[ subtle or not, that's the sort of thing Sprezzatura cannot help but to notice. no matter what else. she curls closer, much less subtly. ]

Da. I would be stupid one, otherwise.

[Cute. Well, as expected, he pulls her closer, keeping her snuggled in near. The blanket drapes over them.]

Then trust me when I say I'm clever enough to know when they're up to real trouble. And they're not. You can relax.

They are... sleeping, you said?

[vecna]

All three of them. Why?

[velluminous]

[ she hums and stretches herself out across his lap, her teacup balanced on her belly, in hand. ]

They are having right idea.

[vecna]

Oh?

[As he looks down at her while she stretches across his lap, there’s the faint sense of his telekinesis keeping that cup steady, too. Just in case.]

Don’t tell me you want to sleep right now.

[velluminous]

Tell me better place for it.

[ if he's helping! then she will happily wriggle about to find a comfortable spot to rest her head. she's gentle, though. ]

What nice view.

[His lap is as comfortable as any other spot! If she’s abandoned her tea completely, he’ll float it over to join its (relatively untouched) brethren nearby.]

Not as nice as mine.
