[ Said mildly. He follows her into the darkness - which is indeed quite dark until Warren finds the lightswitch set into the wall at the bottom of the stairs. Cold and unwelcoming fluorescent bulbs hum to life to reveal...
Yeah, it's a dungeon. And not the sexy kind, either. Everything is bare concrete, with a short row of cells built into one wall. There are some other things around. Tables, chairs. The concrete is concerningly darkened in some places. But perhaps it isn't too far of a stretch to consider that a man with Warren's... talents would engage in a bit of torture now and then. ]
[When the lights flicker on with a sterile buzz, Makima blinks, taking in the sight. This sure is a dungeon. It's cold and unwelcoming and she has a feeling she knows what those darkened stains in the concrete used to be...]
Well. Maybe I should be glad you never intended to take me down here.
[She's just going to check out one of the tables, even if there's not much to see at the moment.]
Is this basement reserved for some of the more... stubborn people you run into?
[ Some of those table are for sitting at. Some of them sure aren't, and come with their own collection of concerning stains. Just how many bodies have been eaten by Warren's back yard? ]
I'm more of a fan of cooperation, when I can get it. When I can't, well. I can be quite persuasive.
Sometimes it does. Sometimes all I need to do is break a few bones.
[ It’s very hard to tell from his tone if he has a preference one way or another. He’s just sort of got this vaguely amused air about him, mostly because she’s taking all this in such stride that it’s almost comical. ]
[Of course she is. Some evils are necessary; she said so herself. She's done terrible things to people in her own time, and not even all that long ago in her own world. Things that would probably suit a place that looks exactly like Warren's torture dungeon. Just ask the local Yakuza.]
[A very efficient way of cleaning up a particularly bad mess. Too bad they couldn't say the same for removing the blood stains from their clothing.]
That's one of the more creative ways of body disposal that I've seen, that's for sure. Well. At any rate, you're saying I can use this space however I like?
[ Warren knows where to find all types in all corners of the magical world. Most Nurturers wouldn’t give a man like him the time of day, but he just happened upon a fellow who had no love to give his fellow man, and was more than happy to add something of a human garbage disposal to his property. It’s come in quite handy. ]
That’s right, though I can’t help but feel that question is leading up to something.
[She's kind of curious to see it swallow up a dead body, yes. Morbidly curious. But her imagination will have to do for now.
She turns to face him and taps at her chin, contemplative.]
Well... Sort of. I was thinking if we kill a demon, we would need a place to chop it up so we can store it away for later, but maybe this room isn't exactly the most sanitary place for food prep.
[Makima??? Girl please. There's nothing sanitary about eating a demon, probably.]
But outside of that, I didn't have anything particular in mind. It's just good to know there's a place like this available to me if I need to drive home a point to someone.
[ First of all, he's a Destroyer. Chopping things up is child's play for him. Second of all, he has a whole-ass kitchen that would probably be better for questionable butchering? ]
Mm. I'll make sure to rework the Illusion on the door to let you in when you want.
[She doesn't know what kind of demon they'll end up chopping up! Maybe it'll be huge. Maybe it'll have like ten limbs. Twenty. It wouldn't be unheard of in her world, at least.]
[ He shrugs a little, as if to say "messes happen". If she doesn't think he has a contingency for some blood on the walls, then she hasn't been paying attention up until now. ]
[Yes, that's quite a story. It might be relevant, at least insofar as her regeneration was circumvented, given the contract they've forged with each other now.
[Come now. Don’t you know the best kind of torture isn’t strictly physical, but mental? She smiles at the recollection, and despite her pleasant tone, there’s something mean about it.]
I had a human as a pet. A young boy with a completely broken spirit, whose life was such a disastrous mess that he didn’t even want to think. He only wanted to follow orders. So I said he could be my dog.
[ He notes that edge to her tone. Despite her apparent desire for a world of love and peace, he gets the feeling that her idea of “love” is perhaps anything but. Much like himself, she’s gnarled and twisted beyond repair. ]
In spirit. Well, if it comes to something like that, run it by me first.
[ Having excess people in the house would just be a hassle. ]

Oh, it feels ominous. Like a hidden-away secret in a mystery. Or a horror. Maybe both, with this man!
How exciting.]
Ooh. [Almost sing-song, this is actually pretty amusing?] Now what are you hiding away, Warren…
[GOING DOWN THE STEPS!! WOOHOO. How dark is it down here, exactly?]

lordt what happened to my html

i saw nothing
Being persuasive can also mean getting messy.
[Huh. So maybe that beach that devoured all those rats and pigeons can also swallow up bigger things. More human-shaped things?]

Yes, but how many leave here alive?
no subject
[ Portals, mostly. It’s not like he lets his victims just walk out the front door. That’s inviting trouble he certainly does not want. ]
The rest… well, you saw what happened with the rats earlier.

[But she shrugs. Your house, my guy.]
Wonderful, though. Our little shared secret.
no subject
One of many, I'm sure.
no subject
I look forward to racking them up.
[And she means that, too.]
So... any more deep, dark secrets you want to show me around your home? Or will we leave this night off on a high note?
no subject
[ Makima already has the very rare privilege of knowing more than most people do about him and getting to walk away from it. Good for her. ]
Just let me know when you claim a room for your own.
no subject
Oh, I'm fine with the guest room I used to get changed earlier. Everything's so spacious here compared to where I came from.
[So Warren spoils her, either way.]
no subject
[ Well, she can have a whole damn wing of the house if she really wants one. Warren is just one man and this house has an excessive amount of room. ]
no subject
[Hm, she wonders how they're doing without her.]
It helps they that they were well-trained. The new ones will be, too.
no subject
Just how many dogs did you have?
no subject
But for now! Dogs!]
I had seven.
[Her eyebrows lift in consideration.]
Or... eight. If you count the human.
no subject
I beg your pardon?
no subject
I had a human as a pet. A young boy with a completely broken spirit, whose life was such a disastrous mess that he didn’t even want to think. He only wanted to follow orders. So I said he could be my dog.
So it kind of counts. In spirit.

Or maybe you do.]
Oh, no. I don't do something like that very often. Only special cases get that treatment.
Tomorrow it'll just be normal dogs. I hope your schedule is clear. I want you to meet them, and them to meet you.
