But it was stolen the day before it was to be presented to her, gifted to another. The blessing, however, was meant only for the queen, and those who wore it quickly succumbed to a mysterious illness that left shadows upon the skin of the afflicted. This continued until the crown was sealed away, to prevent further deaths. It's said that the curse can be removed by returning the crown to the queen, but she had since passed away centuries ago.
[Way to be a downer about everything! He clicks his tongue, running his hand through spikes of blue hair in frustration.]

[ Yes, okay, she looks like your average 19-year-old who models for a living, but she can keep pace very easily. Certain benefits, perhaps, though it's nothing she's going to talk about. Especially when there's not the eerie creaking of something not too far up ahead, hidden for now by the shadows of ancient corridors. ]

[And Erik… well, he’s pretty much that you get what you see. He’s lithe, quick, scrappy in a fight. He won’t be bulldozing his way through enemies, but his daggers are nothing to scoff at.]
So what are you supposed to be? A mage seeking curses?
Something like that. I investigate rumors that sound as though they could cause problems for those around them and act to destroy them. Otherwise, they only grow stronger and become even more of a hassle.
[ She casts him a side-glance, angling her trident further away from her but still readily available to be twirled up front if need be. ]
[ Yachiyo has already come to several conclusions, first and foremost being that this is a completely different place from Kamihama. Which means her formality here will just bouncing right off of him. Honorifics won't work. Last names won't work, especially when he only provides her with his first. And so she swallows a sigh, breathes out quietly through her nose, and rolls her shoulders back.
So she's working with a thief. Felicia had been a mercenary who had happily bounded between changing sides depending on the pay. There are worse things. ]
Yachiyo. And my reasons for doing what I do are largely selfish, regardless of how I phrased it. If people will benefit from it, then that's of no concern to me.
